Seeing People with God’s Eyes

Though it is not biblically in the common eye as such, it’s biblical in the view of the Bible that God’s eyes sees with a ray of light. Meaning, even when God looks into utter darkness, where He looks, there is light. God is able to see what the human eye can’t see, but what is awesome is that God gave us that ability too. Many don’t believe this, but as you start digging deeper into the Word of God, the eyes of your understanding are enlightened (Eph.1:18). This speaks of spiritual eyes. Now, when we are to see people with God’s eyes, we need to look with our spiritual eyes, the eyes of faith – which will only be enlighten through the Word of God.

This is to see people in the light of God’s Word, for God’s Word is God’s very character, which is love. The Bible tells us that God is love (1 John 4:8), and this is how God looks at the world, with love. Let’s us take a look at 1 Cortinthians 13 from verse 1 to 13 and see what God’s love consist of:

Paul wrote, “If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. 4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! 9 Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! 10 But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless. 11 When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. 13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

We should study these verses and get a hold of it, because in this lyes the secret to God’s heart – unconditional love. Love is a verb and anything which is working produces a product. For one, love produces fruit; it produces joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (Gal.5:22-23), and it all comes from tapping into the Spirit – the Love of God.

Now, the verses I quoted above reads that ‘the Holy Spirit produce this fruit in our lives: love… and it gives a list of fruits. Compare to the original Greek, our translations is a bit wrong. It should read, the Holy Spirit produce this kind of fruit in our lives: Love which produces… with the list of what it produces. You see, all the mentioned products; joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (Gal.5:22-23) comes as we grow in love. Love produces all these things, so the more you grow in love, the more you will experience all these things.

You can only give what you have, if you don’t have something, you can’t give it. The same way, you can only use what you have, if you don’t have it, you can’t use it. God has deposited all things into our spirits, it is our responsibility to find out what those things is and use them. If you are unaware of what you have, it is the same as if you don’t have it at all.

We don’t only rob ourselves when we don’t use what God freely gave us, but we also robbing everyone we come into contact with – the whole sphere of our contacts. See people in the light of God’s Word and speak God’s Word concerning them into their lives – this is the only way you will ever see change in people. If you speak what you see in people, you will only get that; but when you speak what God’s Word see in people, then you will end up getting that!

I want to keep this segment short. Love is the weapon of choice God gave us, there is no stronger or bigger weapon than this. Jesus overcame death, satan and all his cohorts with love. God is reconciling the world back unto Himself with love; and we are more than conquerors through love.

When we learn to use love effectively, it will conquer our biggest adversaries. Those who wanted you dead will end up doing you good, your enemies will become your friends. Not only does love do all these things when we use it effectively, but it also brings about good health and life in abundance, but we must have God’s love as quoted in our previous chapter (1 Cort. 19).

Man can’t live without love. Even the hardest of criminals and the heaviest of drug addicts have love within them. Without love there is no life, all we need to do is reach out with love. I have seen cold blooded murderers and gangsters break down in tears when they are reached with true love. Cases where men of God was faced with cold hearted killers, but reaching out with love in the face of death, they won a soul or two.

Love is the greatest weapon of all, it can completely destroy your enemy while at the same time give them a new life. As Christians, we ought to love the way God does; but this can only be accomplished when we surrender totally to God. It is not impossible, it’s just making the right choices with the right motives.

As a born again Christian, we are new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17); however, many don’t really understand the debt of what this means. We are born anew of God, a man or woman who never existed before. The Bible tells us that as Christians, we were crucified with Jesus (Gal.2:20). This means that the flesh is dead. Now, in Romans 8:11, it tells us that the Spirit had quicken the flesh; meaning that we don’t have life anymore because of the blood that runs through our bodies, but we have life through the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s take a look at the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus to understand this better. When Jesus died on the cross, every drop of blood came out of His body (John 19:33). Then after they buried Jesus, He descended into hell, where He took the keys of death from satan (Rev.1:18). Then, on the third day, Jesus rose up from the dead and appeared in His full glory – He had a glow about Him that no one could explain (Luke 24:36 + John 20). When Jesus appeared to the disciples and told Thomas to stick his hand in His side, the wound was open, but there was no blood. This wasn’t a ghost or Jesus’ Spirit they saw, it was Jesus in the flesh. The holes was in Jesus’ wrist, and also there was no blood wounds (Luke 24:39). Jesus now had life from the Spirit.

There’s been cases where people died in my presence. I remember one such case where a young lady was brutally attacked and died because of internal bleeding. However, the Holy Spirit told me to lay hands on her so she might live again. I done as instructed and she came back to life. This sign stood strong witness; and many gave their lives to the Lord that day, believing! Although, at hospital, the doctor said that he can’t believe this, this woman shouldn’t be alive, she lost too much blood and her organs were badly damaged, but he couldn’t understand this; and there was no way I could explain this either. You simply need to be filled with the Holy Spirit to understand things like this. Another story like this is as we came from church one day, a lady ran across the road and another car knocked her. Her head hit the wind screen post, causing big damage to the car. I told my wife that I’m going to help her and jumped out. By the time I got to her she was dead. I think she might of died on impact. People just gathered around, but done nothing. Then the Holy Spirit ministered to me to pray for her and call her back to life. I done as instructed and she came back to life. The medics took her to hospital, but the doctor said, besides a blue eye, there is nothing wrong with her.

In this case the Holy Spirit done something more than the first case. Not only was the dead called back to life, but this woman was restored. Although she still had a blue eye, she had no head injuries. Even the police who arrived late on the scene asked where is the body after they saw the damaged car. They couldn’t believe the lady didn’t die.

The Spirit of God in us gives us life. God has shown me this over and over again. I remember of one case where I was about to get into my car and a speeding taxi swerved out to avoid something in the road. The taxi came so close to me that it scratched the mirror on my car, right where I was standing – but it was like the taxi went right through me. Up to today, I don’t know how that was possible, I only know it was God’s doing.

It might sounds like a nice story or a nice ‘lie’ like some might think, but there is some things about God you just can’t explain. Like Jesus, when He told the centurion to go home to his son, and that his son will live (Matt.8:13), Jesus wasn’t even near the boy; and physically, Jesus never met the boy. You just can’t explain it any other way than the spoken Word carries power.

Different set of rules:

As Christians, we play by a different set of rules. We ought to do things different than the world and have extraordinary results. But you need to know that you are born anew in God – you are a new creature in Christ.

People just can’t understand how some Christians can remain calm no matter what happens, but it’s because we don’t live by the same rules. People of the world might urgently need money for something, and not having cash, they will go borrow money. A Christian in the same situation who knows who they are in Christ will call money by faith and have it when they need it. The world will run to the doctor when they sick, a Christian will lay hands on themselves or the sick and recover fully.

You can call it an unfair advantage, but a Christian who knows who they are in Christ wins before the race or battle begins. God had fixed it this way for us, but what the world don’t know is that God has done it for them too. All they need to do is turn to God and get to know all the riches God has freely made available to them. We all can live this glorious life, but how will they know if no one tells them. Our responsibility as Christians is to study the Word of God and witness to people the awesomeness of God. Don’t let your lips preach louder than your body. Live in such a way that your life will speak a louder testimony than your mouth. After all, Christianity is the outward expression of the inner working of God in a human body.
