In everything we do as believers, we should express God to our world; and with doing so, bring honor to His Name. One thing about majority of today’s church is that we make everything about ourselves; and too little about the Lord. What we say and do matters; and the way we react to what people say and do to us or towards us matters even more. There is a saying that goes like this: ‘action speaks louder than words’ – however, to add to the saying: ‘…your reaction speaks the loudest.’
People are responsible for what they say and do, but you are responsible for how you react – always remember that! I find many Christians reacting wrongly or even ungodly to negative things, circumstances, and what people say – I myself use to do the same; but if I could have overcome reacting the wrong way, then you can too. I speak to many people; and they say: ‘Yes, I hear you, but it is hard!’ You got to train yourself in the Word to react the right way. The problem is that people try and help themselves, while God is waiting for us to turn to Him for help. Use the Word, train yourselve in the Word – you can’t do it without the Word of God. Now I’m not saying that you should not get angry; but the Bible does warn us against anger. In Ephesians 4:25 it tells us that; ‘ it is better to forgive and release anger before the sun goes down so that you do not sin (before we go sleep). However, anger does give birth to foolishness (Eccl.7:9); because as human beings, we don’t know how to control our anger. Anger has the ability to turn a blessing into a curse…
Revealing Your True Character:
Most folks can say some real nasty things when they angry, but be careful of this; this manner of behavior expresses your true character. Rather learn how to train yourself in the Word to react in the right manner – allow your reaction to be governed by the Word and express God’s character in your doing. One thing you should understand is that in most cases when someone acts against you, it is executed through an evil spirit behind the person (even Christians can be influenced by evil to act and react wrongly). In the minority of cases, it is because of jealousy. People come up against each other because envy has made them nasty towards others, which had created in them jealousy towards others.
Don’t turn your blessing into a curse:
Also reacting wrongly when you are blessed: A blessing can become a curse when you start to idolize the blessing instead of the Blesser. In the same manner; God was a blessing unto the Israelites in the desert. Although they couldn’t see Him, He was with them every step they took in the desert. During the day God sent a pillar in the form of a cloud to go before them, leading them – God was in the cloud; yet they couldn’t see Him. The reason for this is that the human race wants to make an image of everything. If God was to be visible unto His people, they would of made an image and start worshipping the image, instead of the true God their Savior.
Today we still do that; we idolize the blessings instead of worshiping the Blesser. Maybe you have been blessed with a new car and gave thanks unto God, but soon you start showing of with the car instead of telling the world that it is God Who blessed you with a car. You can still enjoy all the good things in life, but remember the first love and also the first church of Acts:
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts.2:42-47).
They were the true vessels unto honor for God.
Pride destroys you as a vessel:
Their is only one evil spirit that can stand in the presence of God; and that is the spirit of pride. This is shown to us in the Word of God. Devil stands in the very presence of God accusing the brethren (Rev.12:10) – and he is the master spirit of pride; which was also the cause of him been cast out of Heaven. Their are so many Christians today filled with pride – pastors and leaders who stands stiff neck in the crowd, until they get a hold of the microphone. The minute they get a hold of the microphone and enter the pulpit, only then they are heard and seen; with big noise and dancing, they place focus on how great they can worship God only when all eyes are on them. Can a man be to good to worship God in the crowd? This is pride – for if the spot light isn’t on them, they stand and do nothing.
Persecution of the Righteous:
In everything we are to be vessels unto the honor of God. Yes, that does bring about many haters and enemies; but despite of those standing in the way to stop you of going forward and upward, rather let them be stepping stone for you in reaching higher levels. When will the church wake up to the reality of the Word of God; and what it says about the new creation. When will we come back to the first man. Looking at Genesis 1:26 – God said; let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Understand that God is Spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth (John4:24). So when God made man, He made man a spirit; and verse 27 in Genesis chapter 1 says; and God gave man dominion over the earth. This is evident that God made man in His image and likeness when we look into Genesis 2:7; ‘And God formed man. He took the dust of the earth and blow it into the nostrils of man.
So by this, it is clear that God made man a spirit first, He made man a spirit and He gave the spirit-man dominion; then He formed the body, but did not give the flesh dominion. Life is spiritual, therefore we are to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. This is the reason why the church must come back to the first man, who is a spirit-man. Take back dominion; be the vessel who bring honor to God.
God bless you!
